In most cases, waste management activities in Hungary require waste management license issued by the competent environmental authority. These licenses may be valid for the whole territory of Hungary (off-site license/non-site licenses); or may give the right to achieve waste management activity on-site.

Country licenses:

• waste transportation license
• waste transportation and collection license
• waste trading license
• waste intermediary license
• off-site (mobile) waste recycling and / or pre-treatment license

Site licenses:

• waste collection license
• waste management license
• waste recycling license
• waste disposal license

The site licenses are to be submitted to the environmental department of the competent authority of county, while country licenses (valid for the whole territory of Hungary) are issued by the Environmental Protection and Nature Protection Department of the Pest County Government Office.
